granpa pull-over

This is a pullover I knitted a couple of years ago to Granpa, and it is my own design. He is about 14 cm tall and was made by the UK and IGMA artist Julie Campbell. Granpa is living in my rustic house ....

Work finish!!!!

I hope you like it!

again with the mini quilt, step by step

Making the rows (5 photos above)

Marking and sewing the rows (4 photos above)

Bating the mini quilt with a light material two photos above(I divide a "normal bating" in two)
Tips:
Marking the seam with the help of the quilting rule, note that with this rule is easy to mark the same width in all the fabric squares.
All the seams must be opened, but you can do that just with your finger nail.
Line up very carefully the seams between each row. This is the most difficult part, at least for me.

AIM April issue!

The AIM April issue is out now, and you can download it from http://www.artisansinminiature.com/issue10.html

a new mini quilt....

I am making a new mini quilt in earth tones and I also want to share with all of you what I have learned, about doing these mini quilts.
I think it is important to have some tools, as those that you can see in the photos:
A marking pen with vanish ink
A metal rule
Very good pair of scissors just for cutting fabric
A quilting rule, the smaller the best
A card square with a square hole with the final dimensions of your tiny quilt squares, this is very important to have an idea of the final effect of your fabric (see images).
A Olfa circular cutter but this is opcional
First step
Cut squares in the choosing fabrics, with 3 cm side
Play with them, and make your final combination
Take a photo, very important! and if you want, this is important if you don´t have a studio where to leave everything for days (LOL)
Second step latter on....

a gift from Greece!

Today I received the lovely Mediterranean salad that I won in the Anthoula Zampeli blog giveaway, http://a-miniature-life.blogspot.com/ and I love it. It is so tiny and perfect.
And, proving that the world is really small, she did won a gift from a Portuguese miniaturist , also in a blog giveaway. Another thing, Anthoula is coming to Lisbon....

Quilt Bed Cover finished!

This is my first quilt bed cover, it is not perfect, but I like the result of the colour scheme. I have learned lots of things from the mistakes, I really want to sew another one before I forget what I learned and because I like it, it is funny "to built" a miniature quilt!!! the bed was also
made by myself, from scratch.

trying to sew a miniature quilt bed cover

1) lay down the squares....the final composition

2) first row

3) Four rows, still five to sew (uf!!!)

This is not an easy task!!!!

work done! my own furniture for selling

Finally, I finished the bed cover for the bed I made, totally designed and made by myself, as you may remember. The bedcover fabric pattern was also designed by myself and printed in 100% linen sheet of fabric in a inkjet printer. It is difficult to see, but the "dots" in the bedcover are tiny flowers just like those in the bed. There is also other matching pieces of furniture, fabrics and wallpapers.

at home with a cold!

Since last thursday I am at home with a terrible cold, but I also have good news: the swallows have just returned to my place, I saw them last mondayfor the first time this year, flying around, when I was taking breakfast with my husband.
No doubt about this, spring is coming!
